Who we are

A space for artists.

We are a dance platform building community by sharing resources and supporting the freelance artists who live in LA and pass through. This model is built by artists to support artists.

Working artists teach when they want, with no commitment. Dancers train at a low price and pay their teacher directly. By doing it ourselves, the money stays with the artists.

TheSpace_LA started seven years ago out of the need for a new model: class that working dancers can afford, on a schedule that fits around a working artist's life.

MovementFest LA is a new annual summer dance festival in Los Angeles, with classes, workshops, labs, and performances. Co-produced by Mike Tyus, Jessie Lee Thorne, and Majella Bess.

MVMNT + METHOD

A Guided Creation Lab

Train. Create. Develop. Film.

Movement + Method is a weeklong dance intensive for freelance dancers and emerging professionals. Train daily, create with an exceptional faculty of choreographers, and leave with solo footage filmed for your reel.

Admission is by application. Enrollment is limited.

Classes taught by working dancers and choreographers when they're in town, at 616 Moulton Ave. The schedule changes often, so check back. Reserve your spot online, then pay your teacher directly.
